At my 16 week appointment we decided to have the Quad Screening Test done, which is elective but also highly popular. (I did the test with Harper too)
The test is a maternal blood test that detects abnormalities in 4 specific pregnancy related hormones/proteins. The test is an indicator for abnormalities such as Downs Syndrome, Spina Bifida, and a few others.
My test came back negative, which basically means it's highly unlikely that our child will be born with these abnormalities. The test of course is not 100% accurate, but such is the case with any test.
This was great news to hear and we are looking forward to our 20-week ultrasound to learn more about our baby's health. (only 10 more days!!!!)
