We Went

We went to the doctor's office - that is.

Harper had a fever again yesterday.

And today she woke up from her morning nap with a blotchy-like rash on her stomach, back, and forehead.

After waiting an hour - the doctor sent us home with nothing. She said it was a virus - so we just have to ride it out :(

Harper has been in a better mood today. I want my happy, silly baby back please!

To go...or not to go????

I'm having a tough time deciding if I want to take Harper to the doctor or not. I don't want to be that mom that is always bringing her child to the doctor. But I also don't want Harper to suffer if she doesn't have to.

It all started a few weeks ago when Harper got a cough, then it turned to a wet cough. After a week or so of this cough, we decided to take her to the doctor. The doctor said it could be allergies - but treated her when an antibiotic to be safe. I'm sure it didn't hurt her situation any.

Yesterday, Harper was kind of crabby and felt warm - sure enough she had a low grade fever of 100.4. Today her right eye has been watering non-stop - even some yellow/green discharge :( As the day went on - both eyes started getting a little puffy and red.

I'm not sure if this is the beginning of bacterial pink eye - or what is going on. It could be allergies - as we did go golfing for a bit. But the fever and watering eye started before we went outside. And she did go to daycare on Friday - which was the first time in a month. So she could have easily picked something up.

Do I follow my motherly instincts and take her to the doctor??? Or wait it out another day???? I guess we'll see how she looks/feels in the morning.

Our Week in Pictures

Sometimes I don't feel like blogging - like this week. I had two tests to study for, Adam worked all week, Big Brother is on :) , and Harper has been resisting bedtime the past two nights. So here is a summary of our week in pictures.

mmmmmm watermelon! Harper loves watermelon - although it doesn't look like it from looking at this picture. My guess is that she bit off a huge chunk and is coughing it up - she never learns!
Harper got to spend a few days with daddy when mommy was at class and at work. This is the first time they took a nap in the chair in MONTHS!

This is also what happens when Harper is in daddy's care - getting trapped under the laundry basket! She didn't like it!

Look at this adorable summer outfit - I couldn't resist taking a picture of the front.....

.....and the back!

It has been so dang hot this week that we finally got to play in the new swimming pool!

** You may have noticed that I don't have a swim diaper on Harper - no sense wasting a diaper just to be in our own pool! If she peed in the water - o'well! I'm sure she does it in the bathtub all of the time!
**At the end of the video our mailman was walking by - she is SO nosey! She loves watching people - it doesn't matter what they're doing - she's mesmerized!

projects..projects...and more projects

Being a home owner is a lot of work! Don't get me wrong, I am not complaining by any means, but the projects seem never ending. We just received our insurance check in the mail yesterday - WAY more than what it will cost to fix up the basement! So we are going to use the extra money to update other rooms of our house. Here is a laundry list of our home projects:

Basement:

  • Hang drywall (tape, mud, and texturize too)
  • Paint
  • Install ceramic tile
  • Replace ceiling tiles
  • Hang wire shelving in laundry room

Living Room:

  • Pick out new furniture! (current stuff is going downstairs)
  • re-carpet
  • Update hardware on cupboards

Upstairs

  • Re-carpet all the rooms and stairs
  • Paint the guest room
  • Redecorate the guest room (new comforter, curtains, and wall decor

Outside

  • landscape front of house
  • seed a few areas where bushes were torn out
  • plant perennials along the west side of the house
  • Install storm door

Sound fun???!!!!! I told Adam that I'd like ALL of this done by Harper's 1st Birthday - I'm not thinking that it will happen! The yard work should be finished by the end of this week. All of the bushes and rocks are gone - just waiting on getting new! I'll post pictures to show progress of our projects!

Toys"R"Us Wish List

With Harper's first birthday fastly approaching, I'm sure I will be getting asked for gift ideas. I created a 'wish list' on Toys R Us - but that doesn't mean that the toys HAVE to be purchased at Toy R Us. Most stores carry these toys. But I'm sure Harper will be pleased with whatever she happens to get! This list could probably be carried over to Christmas too :) Click on the link below!!

Dancing Queen

Harper has found her groove! She loves music and she loves to dance!!! Sorry mom - but she even likes country music :)

In other Harper news:

  • she LOVES grapes - for breakfast, lunch, and dinner
  • she has had a cough for the past few weeks and it turned to a 'wet' cough a few days ago - so we took her to the doctor - he said it was probably the beginning of Walking Pneumonia - so she took an antibiotic that past 3 days (I'm not convinced of this diagnosis - but hopefully the medicine will kick in)
  • she is taking a few steps here and there on her own
  • she is an excellent copy cat! She thinks it is fun to imitate our sounds!
  • she LOVES playing with any type of ball

10 Months

We're another month closer to turning one! It's time for me to get serious about party planning! We are so blessed that Harper is healthy and happy!

Weight: 20.3 lbs

Clothing Size: 12 months mostly - but certain brands we're already into 18 months!

Diaper Size: 3

Teeth: still only 8 - but I definitely can tell she is teething on the bottom

Speech: da-da mostly, but also says mama, nana, and the 'b' and 'g' sounds

Eating Habits: 6 oz bottles every 3-4 hours during the day; Harper DOES NOT like to eat baby food anymore! I guess she's trying to tell us that she's a big girl now. Her food lists consists of: toast, pancakes, diced fruit (bananas, grapes, watermelon), diced green beans, pieces of cheese, diced chicken, mashed potatoes, scrambled eggs, yogurt, cheerios, and her Gerber snacks.

Sleeping Habits: Harper is still taking 2 or 3 naps during the day - between 1 - 2 hours EACH! Bedtime is getting later - around 8ish now. She usually wakes 12 hours from bedtime :) Well, with a bottle around 6 or 7 first.

Favorite Toy: She has a few - all books, mini beach ball that she got at the parade, Playskool Ball Popper

Favorite Activity: still hanging out outside - going for walks, swinging at the park, swimming at the pool

New Things

  • claps her hands
  • stands on her own
  • CLIMBS - on us, her toys, and the steps a few times
  • clucks her tongue :)
  • dances when she hears music

Busy

We're here - just super busy!

Here's what we've been up to:

Saturday/Sunday: Harper and I were in Northwood celebrating the 4th of July. We got to see a lot of family and friends. Harper spend the night with Grandma and Grandpa Nerlien on Saturday while I went up town with some friends. I had a lot of fun - maybe a little too much fun! Let's just say that I don't want to drink alcohol for a VERY long time! Harper watched the parade with Grandma June on Sunday - she enjoyed it. Harper stayed with my parents on Sunday night - which wasn't planned. I didn't feel well and I had to work the next morning. All I wanted to do was go home and sleep - THANK YOU mom for volunteering to watch her :)

Monday: I worked in the morning...Adam worked some overtime hours during the day....I traveled to Mason to meet my mom and pick up Harper

Tuesday: My summer class started...I went grocery shopping....Adam worked on our basement...

Today...I PASSED my CNA written and skills tests!!!!.......Harper and I walked in the parade for Wright Medical Center over in Eagle Grove - and now Adam and I are watching 'The Blind Side.'

I'll blog more later.....night!

No more quick takes

I decided that I'm not going to post '7 Quick Takes' on Fridays anymore. It is HARD to come up with seven interesting tidbits about our week. If anything exciting/news-worthy does happen, I usually blog about it. So I'd be repeating myself.

Adam has to work this weekend :( So Harper and I are going to Northwood this afternoon to start our 4th of July festivities. Harper is staying with Grandma and Grandpa Nerlien tonite. I'm really hoping that the rain holds off so we can watch the parade tomorrow morning.

We hope everyone has a safe holiday weekend! Click it or Ticket :)
